Christina's Story
I just want to help people feel better using food! I must say this to everyone when I tell them that I’m an integrative dietitian. My job is to help people reclaim their health and improve their symptoms. It’s easier and more attainable than you think!
Christina Mandolfo, MS, RDN, CDN, IFNCP, CLT
My journey to becoming a certified integrative dietitian began with my own multiple chronic diseases. Through 14 years of significant illnesses, including 8 months of bedrest, seeing multiple specialists, having many tests, feeling frustrated and defeated, I became my best advocate and took matters into my own hands. In addition to finding the right blend of healthcare professionals to nurse me back to health, I used nutrition to regain my health.
I was introduced to the idea that food can heal by one of the natural practitioners I had sought out on my health journey. It sounds silly but I never really thought about food like this. Once I learned how to eat the foods that worked to nourish my own body, I felt so much better. Why didn’t I know about this sooner and how could I help others with this revelation?
It was at that point that I decided to leave my current profession, go to graduate school and earn my master’s in dietetics so that I could learn everything possible about the connection between diet and inflammation. I earned additional certification as an Integrative and Functional Nutrition Practitioner. This allowed me to hone my nutrition skills and dig deeper into the root cause approach. There is a lot to learn so I am constantly reading, researching, watching webinars, attending conferences and studying this constantly evolving field of nutrition.
I truly feel that my numerous chronic illnesses were given to me for a reason. I am blessed to have my health back and now I can help others take control of their health and make choices that work for them.
So when I say I want to help people using food, I mean it! I guide people to choose foods that work for them. I teach simple and manageable techniques that can be used everyday. My biggest reward comes from hearing clients say how much better they feel and that it wasn’t really that hard! Let me help you achieve wellness for life!
